There is honestly nothing quite like the feeling of holding a fresh stack of Pokémon booster packs. Today was one of those days where I just needed to unplug, sit down at my desk, and chase some hits.
The anticipation builds the second you slice off the plastic wrap. That specific, familiar smell of fresh ink and cardboard—any collector knows exactly what I’m talking about. I lined up the packs, took a breath, and started ripping.
Rip.
The first few packs were the usual suspects—a lot of common bulk, a few reverse holos, nothing crazy. But honestly, even the art on the commons these days is stunning. I love just admiring the detail on the cards while sliding through them to get to the back.
Then, about halfway through the stack, it happened. I saw that distinct, beautiful glimmer of a texture gradient on the edge of the card before I even fully revealed it. My heart did a quick little skip. Slow slide… and boom. A gorgeous secret rare card staring right back at me. The centering looks incredibly clean, too.
Straight into a perfect-fit sleeve and a top-loader it goes.
Even if the rest of the packs were total duds (spoiler: they weren’t bad!), that one pull made the entire session worth it. Now my desk is a beautiful mess of wrappers, bulk piles, and a few shining new additions to the collection. A flawless afternoon.
Time to clean up this cardboard chaos and find a spot for today’s big winner in the binder.
