Welcome to My IT Learning Journey
Hello and welcome to domingocelso.site! My name is John Oslec Domingo, and I am an Information Technology student who enjoys learning about computers, programming, web development, data analysis, and other modern technologies.
I created this website to document my progress as an IT student and share the lessons I learn while completing school activities and personal projects. Instead of keeping my experiences only in notebooks or computer folders, I wanted a place where I could organize them and make them useful to other students and beginners.
This website is still growing along with my knowledge. Every article represents something I have studied, practiced, built, or experienced.
Why I Created This Website
My original goal was to build a personal website where visitors could learn more about me, my interests, and my experiences. As I continued developing it, I realized that the website could become more than an online profile.
It could also serve as a record of my journey as an IT student.
Technology can feel confusing when someone is just getting started. A small error in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, or another application can prevent an entire activity from working correctly. I have experienced many of these problems myself.
By writing about what I learned and how I approached these challenges, I hope to create helpful content for students who may be experiencing similar difficulties.
What You Will Find on This Blog
The main focus of this blog is my technology education and personal development as an IT student. My articles cover the tools, lessons, activities, and projects I encounter during my studies.
Some of the main topics include:
- HTML and CSS
- JavaScript fundamentals
- WordPress website development
- Data analytics
- RapidMiner activities
- Computer troubleshooting
- Artificial intelligence
- Technology news
- Student productivity
I explain these topics from the perspective of a learner. I may not know everything yet, but I can share the mistakes I encounter, the solutions I discover, and the lessons I gain from completing each activity.
Learning Web Development
Web development is one of the areas I enjoy studying. I began with HTML and CSS, which helped me understand how webpages are structured and styled.
In my HTML and CSS exam review, I discussed semantic HTML, forms, the CSS box model, positioning, responsive design, accessibility, and webpage testing.
After learning the fundamentals, I started practicing JavaScript. This allowed me to make webpages interactive instead of only displaying static information.
My JavaScript learning journey covers DOM selection, button events, functions, conditions, objects, calculations, and local storage. I practiced these concepts through small projects such as calculators and record trackers.
These activities showed me that programming is not only about memorizing syntax. It requires logical thinking, patience, testing, and the ability to learn from mistakes.
Building My WordPress Website
This website is also one of my practical learning projects.
While building it, I learned how to create pages and posts, organize navigation, install plugins, edit parts of a page using HTML and CSS, and manage the website through WordPress and cPanel.
I also experienced plugin conflicts, maintenance mode, blank pages, and a critical WordPress error. Solving these problems taught me to test one change at a time and avoid installing unnecessary plugins.
I explained these experiences in What I Learned While Building My Personal Website with WordPress.
Managing a real website gave me experience that I could not get from simply reading definitions. It taught me that website development also involves security, backups, search engine optimization, privacy, content quality, and regular maintenance.
Exploring Data Analytics
Another area I am beginning to explore is data analytics.
I practiced using RapidMiner with the Titanic dataset. During the activity, I learned how to retrieve data, connect operators, select attributes, filter records, handle missing values, use breakpoints, and examine the results.
You can read about this activity in My First RapidMiner Data Analysis Experience.
This experience helped me understand that analyzing data involves more than running an application. The person performing the analysis must understand the data, select appropriate operations, and check whether the results are reasonable.
Creating a Better Learning Environment
Technology is not only about software. The physical environment where I study can also affect how I complete my activities.
I improved my study area by connecting my laptop to an external monitor and organizing my desk. The additional display made it easier to follow instructions, write code, preview webpages, and compare different windows.
I shared the complete experience in Creating My Ideal Laptop and Monitor Workspace.
This simple project reminded me that productivity does not always require expensive equipment. Organizing the tools and space I already have can make studying more comfortable and convenient.
Technology News and Responsible Learning
My website also contains technology news articles about education, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, computer devices, and digital tools.
When writing about news, I use reliable sources, explain the topic in my own words, and add observations from the perspective of an IT student. My goal is not simply to repeat another website’s report. I want to understand why the development matters and what students can learn from it.
Technology changes quickly, so I also provide links to the original sources when appropriate. Readers can use these links to verify information and explore the topic further.
Personal Experiences and Memories
Although technology is the main focus of my blog, this website also introduces who I am outside my school activities.
My educational trips to places such as Ramon Magsaysay Dam, Lalog Bridge River, and Simmacbot gave me opportunities to appreciate nature, friendship, teamwork, and environmental responsibility.
Visitors who want to see more of my personal experiences can explore my Profile and Gallery. Keeping these memories on separate pages allows the blog to remain focused on technology and learning.
My Goals for This Website
As I continue studying Information Technology, I plan to publish more first-hand articles about the projects I complete.
My goals are to:
- Improve my programming and web-development skills
- Document the problems I encounter and how I solve them
- Explore data analytics, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence
- Build practical applications
- Share understandable lessons with other beginners
- Create an online portfolio showing my progress
I also plan to return to older articles and improve them whenever I gain new knowledge.
Thank You for Visiting
Thank you for visiting my website and reading about my learning journey.
I am still a student, and I know that I have much more to learn. However, every project, mistake, and completed activity helps me become a better problem-solver.
I hope the experiences shared on this website can encourage other students to continue practicing, asking questions, and building their own projects. Learning technology takes time, but progress becomes possible when we remain curious and consistent.
Welcome to my IT learning journey. I hope you find something useful here, and I look forward to sharing more of what I learn.
